This past weekend has been a whirlwind of world premiers and hardware teases. First up was EA Play livestream of many updates to several of their games, along with a fifteen minute play through of the new game, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order.
Showcasing what was titled as alpha gameplay footage, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order looked to be a very well realized game that harbored those feelings of Forced Unleashed. The main protagonist is one of the last remaining Jedi after the fallout of Order 66 in which the Jedi order was all but wiped off the face of the galaxy. It shouldn’t be a spoiler to know that there are a few Jedi left in hiding. Gameplay wise, you can utilize many ways in order to fight your way through stormtroopers, wildlife and many other obstacles in your way. During the playthrough there was one instance in which you can slow down blaster bolts (a la Kylo Ren) force pull a Stormtrooper towards yourself and direct him in the path of the blaster bolt in which the Stormtrooper essentially shoots himself. Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order is slated for release on November 15th, 2019.
Apex Legends introduced us to new weapons, skins and a new character, Wattson. Wattson is a scientist and engineer that can control areas with her use of electrified fencing. Bringing forth a style of bunkering down in a position for your team mates. Respawn also announced season two of the Apex Legends battle pass, bringing new skins and weapons.
Continuing the new update train, Battlefield V has a few new updates as well. Introducing Chapter 4 with several new maps for players to enjoy. Releasing June 27th, Al Sundan will allow players to pilot aircraft and several vehicles. In July, Merita is the second map taking place in a small Greek village. Two more maps are scheduled sometime in August that focuses more on close combat action. EA and Dice also announced that later this year the release of Chapter 5, introducing the entry of US and Japan with the Pacific theater of World War II. The island of Iwo Jima is going to be one of the featured maps during this period of time.
